Soul Sister Creations offers a socially responsible, eco-friendly, ethically conscious shopping experience that celebrates woman and her diversity through the sale of fresh, funky, unique and exceptional items made by women for women. Since its inception in April 2008, Nikoline and Jen, the soul mates in Soul Sister Creations, have worked tirelessly to create a transparent business that brings together a collection of ever-changing items that represent the diversity of woman makers, both Canadian and from around the world. By saying we are a transparent business, we invite you to ask us about our products. We will tell you where they come from and who made them. In addition, if you can tell us something we don't know about any of our suppliers we would be interested. Nikoline and Jen came into this venture with a list of priorities that they felt were important in a modern shopping experience, priorities that they themselves look for when they shop: 1) Woman-made; 2) Local; 3) Fair-trade; 4) Eco-friendly; and 5) Diverse. Four out of five of these priorities are ones that they themselves look for when shopping. The first priority of supporting and honouring our gifted sisters in craft, came from the global need to tap into the worlds most untapped resource; Women. There is so much female talent in the world. This choice in supporting woman makers is not about excluding men. The point is it isn't about men at all. Soul Sister Creations' mandate is to shop Canadian first and fair-trade second, while eco-friendly seems to come with the territory. What is great about current items available in the retail market is that many of them are made with the earth in mind. To date, all stock carried by Soul Sister Creations is eco-friendly, including items made from recycled materials and renewable resources; animal-friendly/vegan products, chemical-free and organic body products with recyclable packaging; and greeting cards printed with vegetable ink on recycled paper.
