How do I know if I am eligible to use your services? We are a not-for-profit society offering counselling to those who need it but cannot necessarily afford private practice rates. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please feel free to chat with one of our counsellors for more information. If you have access to extended health you are not eligible for Soul Matters. In this case, please contact The Healing Place at healingplace@shaw.ca . How can I meet with my counsellor? We have offices located in Cloverdale, as well as we are equipped for phone or video sessions. Our interns are dedicated volunteers completing their Masters of Arts degree in Counselling and Psychology from recognized universities. They are supervised by Soul Matters co-founders Elsje and Jillian, registered and certified clinical counsellors dedicated to your well-being and the development of upcoming clinicians. Can I continue with my counsellor once they have completed their internship? Unfortunately that wont be an option. After their internship with Soul Matters your therapist will be beginning their own counselling careers. However, we will do our best to transition you seamlessly to another intern. What will my first session be like? Consider it a meet and greet with paperwork! You will meet your counsellor, discuss our policies, complete confidentiality paperwork and begin the journey of sharing your story.
