DIA Portugal Supermercados belongs to Dia Group (Distribuidora Internacional de Alimentación), an international company in the retail sector that is present in four countries: Portugal, Spain, Argentina and Brazil. It was founded in Spain in 1979, with its first store in Madrid.In 1993, in a process of internationalization, DIA Portugal was founded, which has strengthened and boosted the discount format in our country. With increasing success, DIA Portugal acquired the Minipreço chain in 1998 and began operating exclusively under this brand keeping, however, the private label Dia in the products.The first Minipreço store opened in 1979 in Lisbon, being a pioneer in the discount concept and launched, as a novelty, the first private label products. O Grupo Auchan é, em Portugal, herdeiro da experiência do Grupo Pão de Açúcar - o primeiro Grupo na área da distribuição moderna no nosso País - e que marcou o mercado Português com algumas das mais importantes inovações do sector.
