Established in 1989. Somatic means "the living body in its wholeness". Since 1989, we've been helping people improve the quality of their lives. The staff of 6 combined has over 75 years of experience and has extensive training in integrative bodywork, massage and health care. The group specializes in: treating and preventing injury, stress-reduction, pain relief, achieving better flexibility and posture and helping our clients achieve optimal wellness. We offer many different bodywork modalities from subtle to deep tissue. Some of the techniques we offer include: Acupressure, Swedish, Prenatal and Infant Massage, Myofascial Release, Reflexology, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Trigger Point, Medical Massage, Reiki. Somatic Therapy Associates - Massage and Wellness was founded by Heather Schlachter, MA, CMT when she invited other integrative therapists to join her in the goal of promoting wellness in the community. The Associates have extensive experience in integrative bodywork, massage therapy and health care. The group specializes in treating and preventing injury, promoting increased self-awareness, and helping the clients achieve optimal wellness. In 2009, Heather created a Wellness Alliance Program that allows Somatic Therapy Associates to provide their specialized services to multiple locations around the Bay Area. In her role as director, she enjoys being able to broaden her connections by acting as health educator, consultant and patient-care manager for the staff, partners and clients.
