SolGrapH Inc. Information

SolGrapH is creating an entirely new domestic source of high-quality and high-purity synthetic graphite, with secondary markets for its byproduct – clean hydrogen. SolGrapH’s unique direct solar-thermal gas pyrolysis process uses concentrated sunlight to convert natural gas, biogas and/or waste gases into high-quality graphitic carbon and clean hydrogen without the use of any catalyst and without producing harmful emissions typically found in other production technologies and with distinct advantages in cost of production. SolGrapH is a spin-out of UCLA Engineering, with our laboratory space located in the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI). SolGrapH is a part of CNSI's Magnify startup accelerator program. SolGrapH recently received a Fast-Track Small-Business Technology Transfer (STTR) award from the Department of Energy (DOE) to advance solar-thermal synthesis of graphite for rechargeable Lithium-ion battery anodes with application to electric vehicles, energy grid storage, and portable devices.
