Solar Chapter (SC) is an NGO providing sustainable clean water and renewable energy solutions for underserved communities in Indonesia, especially in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Since 2017, we have worked to address the severe clean water crisis affecting over one million people in the region, many of whom previously walked 3–4 hours daily to collect water, leading to serious health, education, and economic challenges such as malnutrition, poverty, and illiteracy. In partnership with local communities, governments, and stakeholders, Solar Chapter has grown from a single water project on Timor Island in 2017 to 23 projects across Timor, Sumba, and Flores Islands by 2024, expanding our reach from 786 beneficiaries in 2017 to over 32,000 people in 2024, with a goal of completing 10+ new projects annually. Our integrated approach includes solar-powered water systems, Water IQ (remote monitoring), Water Mapping (mengalir.co), Learning Centers for local capacity building, and solar lighting solutions. Beyond infrastructure, we focus on empowering communities for long-term water management and climate resilience. Registered as a non-profit in Indonesia and the US (501(c)(3)), our remote-based team operates from our main office in Kefamenanu, with staff across Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya, committed to achieving #IndonesiaMerdekaAir — making clean water #MengalirSampaiAnakCucu for generations to come.
