SAPI is a leading company in the design and manufacturing of automation systems for the pressworking industry, with nearly 4.000 installations worldwide. It was founded in 1973 in Ivrea, in north-west of Italy, in an area with great mechanical tradition, which is today a central district for information technology, electronics and telecommunications. At the beginning SAPI devoted itself to the automation of single presses, introducing a formidable rotary manipulator, the MAS 320 capable of feeding up to 50 pieces per minute onto C frame presses, thus delivering dramatic efficiency and safety for the press operators. A few years later the MAS 500 completed the range of SAPI manipulators for presses : a flexible linear loader / offloader intended for the automation of small to medium presses. In 1980, in order to meet its customers' requirements, SAPI started to project and install the first electronic mono-bar transfer (SISTEMA UNO) designed to be used in lines made up of several presses or in multi-die presses. This technology has won thousands of customers in the last 20 years, thanks to the performances, to the reliability and to the very fast return on the investment it can guarantee. Already by the early 90's SAPI was acknowledged as the leading manufacturer in the field of pressing automation, the one company setting the technical and quality standards.
