The Social Work Association for Graduate Students (SWAGS) is the student representative body for Master of Social Work (MSW) students at the University of Melbourne. Our committee is made up with social work graduate students from diverse backgrounds and at various points throughout our MSW. We are affiliated to the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and receive their support for student advocacy and events. SWAGS has three main functions: - Professional Development - organising seminars and workshops for students on topics relating to social work; - Social Events - hosting a variety of events for students to socialise and network; and - Advocacy - advocating for student's rights and wellbeing in the MSW. We collaborate closely with the University's Department of Social Work, maintaining regular communication about student issues and interests with important stakeholders. It is our goal to ensure that students' diverse perspectives are heard, and that students are involved in the design and delivery of a MSW curriculum that is accessible, inclusive, and equitable.
