Sobel Communications Information

In the public sector Sobel has served as a planning commissioner and vice mayor of Petaluma, California and was a candidate for the California State Assembly. Sobel is past chairman of the Sonoma County Transportation Authority. He was appointed by the Governor of California and served for ten years as a member and one term as president of the 4th Agricultural District Board of Directors. Sobel is also a current member of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District Board of Directors. His non-profit services include duties as president of the Board of Directors of Northbay Ecumenical Homes and a corporate officer and trustee of the Cedars Foundation of Ross. Sobel is also past-president of the Board of Directors of the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Bank of Marin, headquartered in Novato, California. Sobel is the author of two books and an anthology, along with and numerous articles that have appeared in national publications including The Wall Street Journal and others. Specializing in military history, Sobel has contributed to a variety of military magazines and has often appeared on radio and television discussing military, historic and current affairs, including numerous appearances on the History Channel. Additionally, Sobel frequently comments on radio and television concerning national and regional politics.
