SNIP (Spay-Neuter Illinois Pets) Alliance was formed in 2008 as a direct result of the appalling intake numbers and resultant euthanasia rates in Madison County Animal Control facilities. SNIP Alliance received its nonprofit status in February 2009 and has been dedicated to reducing pet over-population by providing education to the public on the benefits of spay-neuter, acting as a resource for those seeking low-cost spay-neuter services, and providing low-cost spay-neuter clinics to the public. After our initial spay-neuter clinics in E. Alton in 2012, utilizing a mobile unit, were a resounding success, we have continued bringing clinics to the communities most in need and have now performed approximately 3,500 surgeries. As a result the intake numbers at animal control have dropped by 29% and the euthanasia rate has dropped to 62%. SNIP Alliance is a recognized organization in many communities, attending farmer’s markets and special events and providing community outreach programs. In addition, SNIP Alliance has provided humane education programs to over 5,000 children in Madison County. Funded by grants and donations from community leaders SNIP Alliance will continue to educate and provide low cost spay neuter surgeries to low-income pet owners.
