Smithy Center for the Arts Information

Our mission is to make art accessible, as well as to inspire individuals to discover the artist within. We envision a community where art has impact; where quality of life is high because people come together in order to communicate, explore, experience, and create. We offer a diverse range of programs from classes and workshops in ceramics, acting, screenwriting, painting, and creative writing. Our main focus is on our Smithy Pioneer Gallery, based in the oldest, most historic building in the village: the original blacksmith shop owned by Judge William Cooper, founder of Cooperstown.
