Sachem Public Library is one of the largest school district libraries in New York State outside of New York City. The Library serves over 82,000 district residents in an area that extends over three townships: Brookhaven, Islip, and Smithtown.
The Long Island Library Resources Council (LILRC) is one of New York’s nine Library Resources Systems.
LILRC is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt not for profit organization. It is chartered by the New York State Board of Regents. The Council was incorporated in 1966 and received its absolute Long Island charter in June 1971 as the Reference and Research Library Resources Council (3Rs) for Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
The council is a regional multi-type library organization serving academic, special, public, and school libraries, library systems, museums and historical societies in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Our purpose is to enhance access to information, encourage resource sharing, promote innovation in libraries, and advocate for library interests.
