Smimac Pty Ltd is a locally owned and operated Alice Springs based foodservice company that commenced operations in January 1971 with the opening of Grandads Ice cream Parlour in Turners Arcade. The business was subsequently sold later that year to allow the Company to concentrate on its food wholesaling activities from rented premises in Smith Street. Continued growth necessitated Smimac building its own premises and new warehouse facilities. This complex was opened in Kidman Street in November 1975 and the Companies operations are still being conducted from this site today. Smimac distributes to Hotels, Restaurants, Clubs, Takeaways, Supermarkets, Schools, Bush Communities, Wayside Inns, Cafes, Service Stations and Caterers. We carry a large range of products including Frozen & Perishable Foods, Dry goods, Ice creams, Fresh Milk, Snack foods, Soft drinks, Juices, Bottled Spring Water, Packaging and Paper products and much more. Smimac currently employ 25 long standing staff whose aim is to deliver premium quality food products to our customers with a friendly, fast efficient refrigerated delivery service. Since it commenced business 43 years ago Smimacs operations have expanded considerably. In addition to supplying goods to outlets in the township of Alice Springs, a large proportion of its customers are situated throughout Central Australia up to as far as 800 km away. Many of the Aboriginal community settlements, missions and outlying organisations rely on our Company for a regular supply of goods. The Tourist Industry in Central Australia and the Northern Territory is of great importance and is a big part of the local and N.T. economy, the Company feels it plays an important role by serving and assisting the extensive customer base from its warehouse facilities in Alice Springs.
