Problem: In 2016 Robb Dillon formed SMASHmouse to fill a gap in digital music education and control of digital devices. "How does a musician immerse themselves in a learning experience when they must take their hands off their instrument every few minutes to pause, rewind and initiate learning tracks? To control their digital device?" Through solving this problem, Robb identified additional industries such as gaming, manufacturing and graphic design where users are forced to turn their attention away from a task to perform a repetitive movement on a device. Solution: This insight expanded the scope of SMASHmouse beyond a hardware solution for the music industry and into a suite of products and software add-ons that increase user efficiency and are delivered through industry specific communities. Products: • SMASHmouse is a universal pedal, offering full mouse and playback functionality modes. Add-on modes will be available to consumers for download via SMASHmart. • SMASHclick allows users to program 10+ automated sequences of software actions, initiated by 1-click of the SMASHmouse device. • SMASHmart is a platform that delivers pre-programed macros that can be triggered with SMASHclick. These communities are easily branded to provide hyper-targeted solutions for users without building industry-specific digital properties.
