SmartComment was founded to help companies and government agencies automate and manage public comment periods related to large civil engineering projects and environmental reviews. In addition to reducing paperwork and cutting out manual processes carried out by expensive consultants, our software ensures transparency for the public and protects clients from litigation due to a flawed or incomplete comment period. In contrast to the traditional method of comment management -- carried out largely with passed-around spreadsheets, comment cards and emails -- SmartComment enables agencies to accept electronic public comments and provides a cloud-based platform and powerful tools to efficiently organize, analyze and respond to them. Comments can be organized by topic, arrayed on Google maps, and easily tracked as project staff reads and responds to them. And when a comment period is over, all comments and supporting data remain permanently safeguarded in the system and available at the touch of a button.
