Nord-Trøndelag Elektrisitetsverk Holding AS er et av landets største e-verk - både som kraftprodusent, kraftomsetter og netteier. Kjernevirksomheten er energiproduksjon og -omsetning, nett og elektroentreprise. I tillegg er NTE en stor aktør innen handel med forbruksartikler. De senere årene har virksomheten blitt utvidet til å omfatte områder som bredbånd, internasjonal engineeringvirksomhet og VVS. NTE er organisert som et konsern med Nord-Trøndelag Elektrisitetsverk Holding AS som morselskap. NTE eies i sin helhet av Nord-Trøndelag fylkeskommune. Selskapet har hovedkontor i Steinkjer og i tillegg butikker, produksjonsanlegg og installasjonsavdelinger/enheter over hele Nord-Trøndelag fylke og en installasjonsavdeling i Trondheim. NTE har 80.000 målte strømanlegg. Konsernet har tilsammen 1000 ansatte og en årlig omsetning på nær 3 milliarder kroner.
