The well-documented disparities of medical services between countries of the First World and those of the Developing World are the target of attention for the Small World Foundation - particularly with recent catastrophic events in Central America. Since 1995, SWF has conducted three to four medical missions per year to Central and South America and the Middle East. In particular cases where sophisticated treatment was needed, SWF was instrumental in arranging for the transportation and medical treatment in the United States. Each medical mission team is comprised of volunteers with varying specialties: plastic surgeons, prosthetics, nurses and support personnel.
