The Slovak Film Insitute (Slovenský filmový ústav - SFÚ), established in 1963, member of FIAF and European Film Promotion, is the sole national institution in the field of cinematography. It consists of the National Film Archive and the National Cinematographic Centre.The National Film Archive collects, preserves, and protects national cinematographic heritage and makes it available for the public. At the same time, SFU handles producers rights to Slovak films produced by Slovak national studios in 1895 - 1991 and highly supports their international presentation. The National Cinematographic Centre serves as the national film promotion centre, providing complex information and documentation services related to Slovak cinema, organizing film events in Slovakia and abroad.
