Interoperable Pathology Cloud Infrastructure for Africa that Drives Medical advancement in AI… Pathology has one of the highest rates of discordance among doctors on the diagnosis and thus treatment of patients. Using the advances made in AI image recognition, we have the ability and obligation to achieve more accurate and consistent diagnosis to save patient lives. However our focus is based on creating the infrastructure, data collection and management needed for AI collaboration as opposed to purely the AI development. Africa currently represents the greatest unmet need for digital pathology services in the world. That is why we are developing a templated, plug-and-play digital pathology cloud infrastructure that is interoperable between brands and costs less to deploy. This then allows us to create a Pathology Open Data Exchange for the advancement of medical AI development. 1. Interoperable Pathology Cloud Infrastructure We are building an interoperable cloud infrastructure that allows labs of any size to connect various slide scanner brands and LIS systems to a central image database for better, more cost-effective case management. This turnkey slide scanning solution has no upfront cost, is paid on a per GB basis, and can be rolled out in days, not months. It’s a ready-to-go, elastics plug-and-play cloud infrastructure that includes full security and WSI compliance. 2. Pathology Open Data Exchange (PODE) Interoperable** Central African Pathology Image Database with shared intellectual property rights for all participants, managed by blockchain technology. No longer will physical microscope glass slides (non-digital data) sit in storage gathering dust, unused, undervalued, and making no future contribution to humanity. Using the PODE system, all labs in Africa can digitise their glass slides, then contribute the digital images to a central shared IP that leads to global advancements in health. Contributions are measured and managed using blockchain.
