Siva Power is an innovator in advanced solar device and manufacturing technology. It is developing a solar factory built for the "gigawatt era," with the goal being the best technology at the best price: producing extremely efficient thin-film solar panels that are also the lowest-cost in the world. Siva Power's CIGS (copper, indium, gallium, selenium) photovoltaic solar panels combine innovations in equipment, materials and process to achieve high efficiency at unprecedented scale. Siva Power is a recent awardee of the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative. Siva Power was one of ten companies nationwide who won an award in the SolarMat2 category and was the only thin-film panel manufacturer. The U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative is a collaborative national effort that aggressively drives innovation to make solar energy fully cost-competitive with traditional energy sources before the end of the decade. Through SunShot, the Energy Department supports efforts by private companies, universities, and national laboratories to drive down the cost of solar electricity to $0.06 per kilowatt-hour.
