SIO GRAFEN - STRATEGIC INNOVATION PROGRAMME FOR GRAPHENE SIO Grafen is a national Strategic Innovation Programme supporting the industrial graphene development in Sweden. The programme is supported by the Swedish government agencies Vinnova (Sweden’s innovation Agency), the Swedish Energy Agency, the Swedish Research Council Formas, and by sponsor partners. The vision for 2030 is that Sweden is among the world’s top ten countries in deploying graphene to ensure industrial leadership. The programme has the ambition to strengthen collaboration between industry and research providers in graphene application areas, by identifying and bringing together key players in value chains towards applications. AREAS OF STRENGTH • Electronics • Composites • Coatings • Energy • Manufacturing • Biotechnology IIMPACT GOALS OF SIO GRAFEN • Establish graphene as an industrial area of strength • Strengthen collaboration • Stimulate Swedish graphene manufacturing GOALS 2020 • Minimum 1 demonstrator in the strength areas of Electronics, Composites and Coatings. • Minimum 40 new Swedish company-driven R & D initiatives have been started 2018-2020. minimum three new 2D materials on the market, developed by Swedish actors. • 10 patent applications. • There is a roadmap developed for each areas of strength. • Minimum three processed products with clear customer value are available for sale to at least one customer. • Minimum 5 collaborative projects with both Swedish and foreign parties have applied for R & D funding (within EU-funded collaborative projects). • Minimum 6 Swedish companies have established graphene related business partnerships with a supplier. • A Swedish industrial strategy has been developed for the continuation of the Graphene Flagship within the industrialization programme. • Minimum 5 activities have been implemented to support knowledge transfer between research and business needs. • Joint innovation activities with two other strategic innovation programmes. • 10 graphene materials have been characterized. • Four activities have been carried out, leading to increased knowledge and manufacturing processes. ACTIVITIES • Open calls for funding of collaborative projects between companies and research partners. • Newsletters with information about ongoing activities and upcoming calls and other things related to graphene within SIO Grafen, the Graphene Flagship, FLAG-ERA and the Advocacy Platform Graphene Technologies. • Research Intelligence and monitoring of business news, patent landscapes and research news • Workshops in various application and technology specific areas. These provide a networking platform with the ability to influence the program, create contacts and learn from each other. • Outreach activities to improve the supply chains nationally and internationally to functioning innovation mechanisms.
