Singles Project Information

Singles Project is a dating app that serves as a values-driven fundraiser for nonprofits while connecting their like-minded supporters. It's essentially as if each partnering nonprofit had its own values-based dating app – the monthly membership fee goes to them and their supporters can connect with each other on the basis of mutual values and interests, or with supporters of other wonderful causes. We are not a replacement for day-to-day fundraising software. We create added value by providing a tangible service – a dating community connected through common causes – that serves as an independent incentive for people to make a donation. Our goal is to appeal to the very best in people by inviting them to engage in an act of goodwill to join, and hoping that they carry that sense of goodwill with them when connecting with other donor-members on our app. We believe that the incentive of gaining access to our dating community of common causes can mobilize a major and rolling source of monthly donations for nonprofits. Our incentive appeals to both current donors for an extra donation, as well as people who are part of your broader community and list who have thought about giving but haven’t taken the final step of doing so. To galvanize democratic participation, we have a volunteering function so our members can let the nonprofit know that they’d like to get involved in other ways, too. Following on this theme, our company is structured as a worker cooperative in Stockholm, Sweden, where we are based, and our US subsidiary is incorporated as a public benefit corporation in New York. Our broader vision and goal is to serve as an example of the democratic solidarity economy in action, and to promote greater collective participation in general.
