The association is the voice of the Wagyu breed in Australia representing the membership. It has responsibility for the registration and DNA verification of the breed. Genetic tools are developed for improvement of the breed, the reputuation of the Wagyu brand is protected, and science is promoted and evaluated with respect to the Wagyu industry.

Angus Australia represents the Angus cattle breed across Australia and New Zealand, with more than 4,000 dedicated producers across both seedstock and commercial sectors. As a member-based organisation, our purpose is singular: to enhance the profitability and long-term success of our members. We are the largest cattle breed society in Australia, representing over 4,000 members. The MGBCS is committed to: 1.Providing services to members, such as communication, registrations, information, marketing and breed promotion. 2.Directing the policy for the breed. 3.Maintaining and improving the economic wealth of the company for the benefit of members. 4.Ensure the Society adopts best practice for corporate governance in the conduct of its duties. 5.Promote and be involved in research projects domestically and internationally. 6.Developing international relationships amongst Murray Grey Breeders. 7.Promotion of Murray Grey cattle domestically and internationally. The breed has its worldwide headquarters in Armidale.
