Dallara was founded in 1972 by Eng. Giampaolo Dallara, who is also its president, now assisted by Eng. Andrea Pontremoli in the role of partner and managing director. Headquartered in Varano de' Melegari (Parma), the engineer's hometown, the company also has a plant in Stradella di Collecchio and an American facility in Indianapolis. Dallara today is one of the most important companies specializing in the design, development and production of high-performance racing cars; in fact, it is the sole supplier of cars for the IndyCar, IndyNXT, Formula 2, Formula 3, EuroFormula, Formula E and Super Formula championships. It builds cars for the WEC, ELMS and IMSA and provides consulting for other championships such as Nascar. In addition, Dallara provides specialized consultancy and professional assistance to manufacturers and racing teams to develop both competition and road cars.
Since 2017, Dallara has been producing its first road car, the Dallara Stradale, which is sold in limited numbered units across Europe, Japan, Great Britain, and Switzerland. In 2021, the Dallara EXP was introduced, a track-only version of the Stradale that embodies the spirit of racing with its extreme performance and adherence to the highest FIA safety standards.
In recent years, the company has developed solutions for the aerospace and defense sectors. The Dallara Group currently employs more than 800 people.
