SILLAPlus Information

Throughout six years of studying to become a Doctor of Medicine, Nil Sancho Comasòlivas, co-founder and CEO of SILLAPlus, witnessed firsthand the demographic shifts within society and how many of these needs are still unresolved. In Spain, 20% of population is over 65 years old and many of them suffer chronic diseases. Osteoarthritis, the most common disease damaging often the knee articulation, limits a person’s mobility. Co-founder and business developer of SILLAPlus, Frederika Schulte, researched the relationship between mobility issues and an exclusion in social life for elderly people during her Cultural Anthropology undergraduate degree. In order to improve mobility, SILLAPlus has created a physical device that facilitates the standing up process, as this action requires complex locomotive coordination and strength. Currently, to solve this issue people can buy electric stand-up chairs which at a minimum cost approximately €1000. Our solution will be cheaper than this, simple to use and easily transportable.
