Shur-Kut Corporation Information

Shur-Kut was founded in September 1966 by John Saddic, a former US Marine and WWII/Korean War veteran. John's initial business vision was simple: to serve as an industrial supply house selling cutting tools, abrasives and fasteners in the Philadelphia region. To achieve this end, we located to a building just 15 minutes from the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and Westinghouse. Over these initial years, Shur-Kut successfully served several local machine shops and developed a solid working relationship with Westinghouse. As a result of this relationship and Westinghouse's need for larger and more specialized orders, we began sourcing and specializing in hard-to-find items. Frustrated with supply limitations and delivery issues, we eventually purchased a lathe and drill press to start producing and modifying specialty fasteners in-house. Our self-sufficient approach enabled us to significantly expand our reach and capabilities. The culmination of these efforts and our success during this time came in the form of a commendation letter from the US government for supplying critical items for the Gulf War effort.
