New York Scholastic Chess Club offers curriculum chess and after-school programs to schools, private lessons for groups and individuals, host tournaments and run chess camps during school breaks. Our programs are tailored to students ranging from absolute beginner to national champions. In 2018 alone our schools had multiple top 5 team finishes at the New York City Championships as well as an individual champion and many top 10 individual finishes. We also had top 2 finishes as a team and individually at Girls Nationals in Chicago. At the Nationals one of our schools sent 3rd most students of any school in the nation. NYSCC had multiple top 5 and top 10 team finishes as well as an individual National Champion! Founder / Manager Ivan Dirkx's experience playing top-level scholastic chess in New York City means NYSCC has unique insight into the needs of our students.

Operating for over 30 years, ChessPalace is a one-stop shop for all your chess needs. Open 6 days a week, our chess club provides the space and schedule for visitors to come play, learn, and have fun with chess. Chess sets, books, and accessories are also available for purchase for personal use or for gifts. The chess club hosts weekly and monthly tournaments and have organized over 3000 rated games for the Southern California community, including scholastic tournaments for students in Kindergarten to 12th grade. Our chess club also organizes one of the biggest chess tournaments in Orange County, the American Open Chess Championship (www.americanopen.org). Group and private chess lessons offered, including introductory lessons, are for kids and adults. Chess camps are offered during school breaks to ensure continuous learning. Players can also build their chess skills and knowledge through our grandmaster lecture series.

Chess in Iowa is a non-profit organization with the mission to promote the advancement of chess and chess players in our community. Chess in Iowa is governed by a board of directors and is recognized as a charitable organization by the IRS under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Some of our work has gone on to support Scholastic and All-Ages Chess Tournaments, scholarships to scholastic players, camps, workshops, and hosting of lectures and simultaneous exhibitions of titled chess players. We are continuing to pursue new opportunities that further our progress to these goals.
