Showroom Workstation is an award winning 4 screen independent cinema and bar as well as a creative business centre housing over 60 creative and digital organisations. The cinema offers a range of educational and cultural programming for Sheffield, including several successful film festivals. The Workstation is a managed workspace and hosts businesses as diverse as architects, dance companies and web developers. Housed in a converted 1930's car showroom the building itself offers various space for events and each year sees wedding receptions, business meetings, university lectures, major conferences and corporate parties take place. Showroom Workstation is owned by a registered charity: Sheffield Media and Exhibition Centre (SMEC). SMEC also owns the highly successful Sheffield Doc/Fest - the UK’s biggest and most important festival of documentary and digital media. Showroom Workstation contributes a vibrant creative and cultural centre to Sheffield and the region and it has been instrumental in helping the city’s development particularly in creating the Cultural Industries Quarter.
