THE BIG IDEA: To create an iconic event based in Nelson, that will become an annual pilgrimage for people who enjoy live concerts. We don’t just want to put on events – anyone can do that. We want to move people; to deliver an event that makes the concert goer want to come back again and again, and that’s called a pilgrimage. WHO COULD WE EXPECT TO SEE? We’re talking about artists like Annie Lennox, Mark Knopfler, Bryan Adams, Peter Gabriel, Van Morrison, Bryan Ferry, Simply Red… High calibre artists that you grew up with. WHAT COULD BE ACHIEVED FOR OUR COMMUNITY? Edinburgh is considered the most successful city on the planet for its continual rotation of festivals and events. We want Nelson to achieve that on a smaller scale. Yes, you can attend concerts elsewhere, but Showcase Nelson seeks to be different by creating an annual event with a unique culture.
