For several years SBC functioned like a micro-agency providing strategic communication support to organizations that understood what effective PR in the 21st century entailed: I call it "Social PR." It's still research-based, it often includes "traditional" PR elements, and it's always based on measurable objectives. It is NOT simply bunging on a layer of social media over your traditional PR programs. What true Social PR does is put your community at the heart of your programs, so that they are empowered and enthused about telling your story for you. What I realized was this: *how* we practice PR is not going to change until we teach those coming into the industry (or who've been in it a fair amount of time, like me) why Social PR is the wave of the future. So while I still take on limited consulting engagements, particularly in the areas of communications consulting, research, and audits/strategy development, my focus is much more on education and training.
