A wholly owned Australian company, Shipman King prides itself on manufacturing high quality products for not only the Australian market, but also for other established markets in New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the Pacific Basin. Shipman King Pty Ltd was formed in January 1999, when two leading petroleum equipment manufacturing companies, Shipman King & Co. and Fuelquip (Aust.) Pty Ltd merged. The Shipman King name has a long history in the petroleum industry having been established in 1923 as a manufacturer of Tanks, Petroleum Fittings and the Shipman King Petrol Pump under the brand name of Eskay, and trading as Shipman King & Co. The Eskay valves used today for a suction system is still sealed using the original patented poppet closure. In the 1980's the product range was expanded to include the complete range of valves and fittings required for a service station installation including stage 1 vapour recovery equipment. With the rapid change in pumps to incorporate electronics, an extensive range of flexible connectors were manufactured by Shipman King & Co, and together with the triangle valve, provided an economical method for pump change overs. Fuelquip (Aust.) Pty Ltd was established in 1986 when it acquired the Simac range of pumps and lube oil equipment from S.K.McIvor in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. With stricter environmental demands continuing to grow within the industry, Fuelquip (Aust.) Pty Ltd began developing containment systems to meet these new requirements. This included manufacturing underpump containment sumps, to suit all the different pumps and dispensers on today's market, flexible entry seals for pipe and conduit penetrations, and to avoid soil contamination at fill points, overfill spill containment boxes. In January, 2000 the Browning Spill Safe Boxes became part of the Shipman King product range.
