Shayan Information

Shayan is one of the famous modern folk musicians who started to sing Persian music when he was 8 years old. His teacher and mentor, professor Taj Isfahani, was a pioneer in Persian music in Isfahan, a cosmopolitan city in Iran. At age of 14 Shayan performed with a band for the first time at the Youth Center and continued to sing for all high schools in Isfahan. At 17 he learned to play guitar and formed a new band that included a bass guitarist, a keyboard player and drum. Shayan and his band moved to Tehran when he was 28 years old. He signed a contract with Avang Music Company and started to work with great musician such as Massoud Fardmanesh (Lyrist), Touraj Shaabankhani (Composer) and Eric. His first album which was published a year later went to the top of the charts. In 1978 after the revolution in Iran Shayan moved to Istanbul, Turkey where he stayed and performed for 18 months. In 1980 he moved to Paris, France where he was warmly welcomed by his countrymen, and he spent the next 18 years in Paris. In 1998 a well known Persian record company invited him to make an album in Los Angeles, California, it was then that Shayan decided to continue his music career in The United States. His first album in the U.S. was produced in 1998 titled Didar, Pedar by Mohammad Shams performed with French Symphony . Gole' Naz was one of the popular songs in this album. Hossein Vaseghi (composer) and Amir Badakhsh (lyrist). Massoud Fardmanesh and Homayoun Hoshiar Nejad were among other artists that Shayan has worked with in Los Angeles. His next album, Taje' Esgh (crown of love) will to be published by March 2002 (the Persian New Year) includes Atashe' Esgh (Fire of Love). Shayan's passion for music is inspired by the love of his old country, Iran, and in particular cities such as Isfahan, Shiraz, Meshed, Tabriz, Gilan, Mozandaran, Lorestan, Khorram Abad, Bushehr, Bandar Abbas, Sannandaj and Kermanshah where he came in contact with people and performed songs for them.
