PS Racing Ltd is a sports management and marketing company focused on offshore competitive and sustainable sailing. Campaigning the Energy Challenge: a competitive ocean racing project centred on innovation, performance, and energy efficiency. Uniquely, it aims to demonstrate the performance advantages of clean technologies through a competitive project in both Class 40 and IMOCA 60 transatlantic and round-world races. The Challenge is mid-development of a self-sufficient, CO2-free clean energy system offering a lighter solution with greater energy security and reliability, compared to the traditional diesel generator. Modules of this system are being developed and tested aboard the Class 40 race yacht to ensure their success and reliability, providing the ideal testing ground prior to integration on an IMOCA 60. This high performance project aims to win races on zero CO2, with the objective to race non-stop around the world with zero fossil fuels aboard. To be the first CO2 free boat to win a world race could act as a strong demonstration for a new concept in marine power systems and be pivotal in decarbonising the boating sector. Building from a Class 40 Championship win in 2017 the Energy Challenge is aiming to move up to the prestigious IMOCA 60 Class, culminating with an entry in the Everest of Sailing, the Vendée Globe in 2020. This solo, non-stop round the world race is the highlight of the IMOCA 60 World Championship, ocean racing’s premier sporting arena.
