SHALOM INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY Information

Shalom International Ministry is a new multi cultural church founded by immigrants, refugees and the Tri- Presbytery New Church Development Commission in order to create a space for worship, learning, hospitality, and healing. Shalom is primarily made up of refugees and immigrants, particularly new arrivals to the United States residing in Clarkston, Georgia. Shalom International Ministry officially began December 2011. Eleven people came, representing the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia and Cameroon. For five months Shalom worshiped in people's houses. As stories spread of God transforming lives through Shalom, the community began to grow. More than fifty adults come to worship on Sunday evening, forty children come for the children program on Saturday and many more meet with each other and the pastors of Shalom during the week in space provided by Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. Together we represent sixteen countries: Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Congo-Brazzaville, Togo, Ghana, Cameroon, Nepal, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Angola, Bhutan, and the United States. Many in our midst have a strong and deep Christian faith that has sustained them, but some are of other faiths and are coming because they're curious about Christianity and long for community.
