Land Use & Real Estate - I help property owners and developers explore the feasibility of a proposed development, create an entitlement strategy, and obtain the entitlements necessary for development. Past projects included feasibility studies and strategy development for conversion of a shopping center to mixed use residential, land use analysis for an EV charger company, applications for office and hotel entitlements, and smaller projects such as defending short-term rental permits against appeals. I also handle real estate transactions. Municipal Law - For over 10 years, I represented local government agencies as an in-house attorney and as outside counsel to cities, gaining expertise in a range of areas, with an emphasis on land use, planning, and zoning. In addition to advising staff and elected officials, I successfully defended agency actions in court, including on appeal and in federal court. I continue to provide contract legal and consulting services to municipal agencies. Cannabis Law - I have been working as a cannabis attorney since 2016, starting as a government attorney responsible for crafting a local ordinance and policies for adult-use activity and supporting prosecution of illegal dispensaries. In recent years, I have helped investors perform due diligence on target licensees, obtained modified licenses following change of ownership of licensed operations, crafted marketing strategies consistent with regulations, and advised licensed cannabis operations on various regulatory compliance matters. I have spoken on several panels and published articles on cannabis regulatory compliance.
