At Sempo there’s a simple, but radical idea that we find particularly inspiring: one of the best ways to help vulnerable communities is to just give them money, no strings attached. Cash Transfers bring dignity to affected people, and solve a fundamental problem with humanitarian relief - too often, we spend millions of dollars on the wrong kind of aid: In Iraq, 70% of Syrian refugees have sold the aid they were given, in order to buy what they actually need. We're on a mission to help all aid organisations, from grassroots to international, to increase their usage of cash transfers as a tool to alleviate suffering, provide dignity and ultimately increase long-term self-sufficiency.
