Everybody faces challenges in their lives. Nobody should have to face those challenges alone. Community Solutions makes sure they don't have to. For 50 years, Community Solutions has responded to the growing and changing behavioral health needs of children, families, and adults in Santa Clara and San Benito Counties. As the most comprehensive nonprofit human service provider in our region, we serve over 6000 individuals each year who are facing significant challenges due to mental illness, domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, substance disorders, severe family dysfunction, and homelessness. Our mission is to create opportunities for positive change by promoting and supporting the full potential of individuals, the strengths of families, and the well being of our community. We advance our mission by building emotionally healthy families, youth, and individuals, and increasing their interdependence, self-reliance, and safety. We provide wellness and recovery-based behavioral health services, empowerment-based domestic violence and sexual assault services, and strength-based prevention and intervention services.

Fifty years ago we formed one of the world's first non-profit social enterprises. Urban Seed (Collins Street Baptist Benevolent Society Inc) is a Christian based organisation that prioritises and assists marginalised people while developing broader, supportive communities in the city of Melbourne and throughout Victoria. Urban Seed recognises that the needs of our streets and neighbourhoods have causes that are systemic as well as personal. Our projects seek to address the underlying causes of poverty. In the city Urban Seed runs Credo Cafe, providing a free lunch that has grown out of the life of our residential community. In Credo a diverse group of people come together to share a meal each day. Beyond lunches, we seek to build supportive relationships, strengthen community and extend hospitality to the poor. We run recreational and creative activities (eg. writing group, art group, cricket team), initiating activities to support connection to spirituality, encouraging and assisting with connection to support services (eg. mental health, drug treatment, health and housing services) and creating space for a Homeless Person's Legal Clinic. We regularly get involved in local advocacy around issues that affect people who are homeless or marginalised. Urban Seed is actively involved in advocating and providing education on a range of social justice issues. We engage with government, business, churches and local community groups. Our Youth and Schools team also speaks to thousands of secondary students and teachers each year through seminars and City Walks.
