Container shipping is all about maximizing the yield of transported containers. For that reason, it is key to know the exact free capacity of vessels to accept the right bookings. Until now, however, this has been impossible due to extremely complex stowage rules causing capacity losses worth $10B+ every year. To address this, we have developed CAPSIM, a unique capacity simulator that can select bookings with maximum loadable yield over a multi-port voyage. CAPSIM combines the best of our 15 years of R&D on advanced stowage optimization algorithms to leading companies such as Maersk, Navis, and MacGregor. CAPSIM is the core engine of our three cloud products SLX | YIELD, SLX | FLOW, and SLX | STOW. It also powers our Plugin to STOWMAN. SLX | YIELD enables carriers to analyze contracts and sport cargo of services and adjust them to achieve cargo compositions with highest expected yield. Pilot projects with leading carriers show that SLX | YIELD can increase yield by 5-10% on same fleet. SLX | FLOW uses CAPSIM to compute pre-stowages automatically. This enables capacity managers to simulate the real impact of their decisions and experiment fast to find cargo flow solutions that best fit demand. SLX | STOW is the operational leg of CAPSIM. Since CAPSIM computes real stowage conditions, these can be used as stowage plans in operation. It works seamlessly with top products such as STOWMAN and MACS3 by Navis and can be used to support final planning by the stowage team. The CAPSIM Plugin for STOWMAN is an add-on to STOWMAN. It solves tedious seaworthiness errors in a stowage plan with minimum changes to the initial plan. It easy to use, but still can reduce the planning time substantially.
