The Vancouver School Board is a large, urban and multicultural school district. We are committed to providing the highest quality learning experience for all students, helping them to reach their intellectual, social, and physical potential in a safe and inclusive environment. The district is among the most diverse public school systems in Canada with an annual enrolment of approximately 50,000 students in kindergarten to Grade 12. In addition, the Vancouver School Board provides educational programs and services to full-time Adult Education students. Our programs and services address the extraordinary and complex challenges associated with a diverse district. SD43 is the third largest school district in BC, with approximately 32,000 students attending 45 elementary schools (kindergarten-grade 5), 14 middle schools (grades 6-8), 11 secondary schools (grades 9-12) and alternative education options. School District No. 43 covers an area of approximately 128 square kilometers and is bound on the west by Burnaby and the Indian Arm, on the east by the Pitt River, on the south by the Fraser River, and on the north by Burrard Inlet. Within the school district’s boundaries are the Cities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, and the Villages of Anmore and Belcarra. During the summer months, our District provides students the opportunity to take various courses. Summer session is an opportunity for teachers, who choose to, to continue working during the summer months. Students The Burnaby School District supports and provides learning to 25,000 Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) students and to more than 6,000 adult learners.
