Scriptura began as a few Hebrew scholars and Bible translation experts who care passionately about making God’s Word accessible to the global church. We are now a team of over twenty people who are in love with diving deeply into the text, experiencing God for ourselves, and then bringing that engagement and experience to others, so they can also see God, for themselves, in his Word. The poetic language of the Bible can be an especially thorny challenge for translators. Poetry, after all, is as much about wrestling with the heart and connecting with the soul as it is about academic language concerns. We engage in that wrestling: both the traditional deep, painstaking work of linguistic analysis as well as emotional and poetic analysis. Then we distill it and prepare it for translation teams, so they are able to capture the poetic essence of the Psalms, enabling its timeless beauty and truth to resonate across languages and cultures. We focus on accuracy — linguistic, poetic and emotional — to make Scripture accessible to all, in its fullness. Then every people group will be able to engage, directly, within their own language and culture, with the richness of its message.
