The Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) is the advisory body to the Scottish Government on library and information matters. Our role is to support and promote the role of library services in the social and economic development of Scotland's communities. We work with public libraries, specialist libraries and libraries within educational settings to improve the quality of provision through funding, training and evaluation tools. SLIC also works in partnership with a number of organisations, providing services which help people make the most of Scotland’s information. The Scottish Library and Information Council is funded through Scottish Government funding, member subscriptions and contributions from the National Library of Scotland. SLIC is a registered charity - Scottish Charity No: SCO17886.
