The SCOOP Connect project is the not-for-profit ISP and IT Services Organization that has redefined, reshaped and completely rationalized the IT Industry in South Sudan. Prior to the founding of SCOOP Connect, Internet connections in South Sudan cost a small fortune (anywhere between US$5000 and US$9000 per mbit per month), were about as reliable as the weather, and were supplied by companies that seemed more skilled in creative lies and excuses, than they were in delivering a workable Internet connection. Just a few years later, and the industry has had to pull it's socks up because of the market pressure we have created - we supply cheaper, faster and better internet, mostly underpinned by the cost efficiencies that can be derived from training locals in engineering, installation and support skills, as opposed to importing labour at 10 times the cost. On the back of our roots of simply supplying Internet connections, and bringing pioneering technology such as Ka Band to the market, we have expanded logically into desktop and network support services and outsourcing, infrastructures, CAT6 UTP structured cabling, hosted services, managed services and also software development.
