The SCIC Cochlear Implant Program is a service of RIDBC and is available for both adults and children. The program can be provided as a stand alone service for people of all ages or integrated with other RIDBC education and therapy services. Together, our expanded team of professionals will deliver a comprehensive service tailored to meet a person's individual needs and stage of life. Our combined team has a wealth of experience working with children, young people, adults and older adults to achieve the best possible outcomes. Our range of cochlear implant services will give recipients the added advantage of continuous 'whole of life' care and support. How will existing SCIC or RIDBC Cochlear Implant Program clients benefit from the new program? Existing clients of the SCIC or RIDBC Cochlear Implant Programs will continue to receive the full range of services that they currently access from us, both now and into the future. If you are an existing adult client, you can expect to receive the same high quality, specialised services you currently receive, but you can also benefit from additional allied health services, further specialist assessment programs and facilitated group support services, that the new program provides. Likewise, children and families can expect to receive the same high quality, specialised services you currently receive, but if your child would potentially benefit from and is eligible to receive additional services through RIDBC, we will be able to guide you through the options available to you. Of course, there is no requirement for children or adults to be enrolled in any other RIDBC services in order to use the SCIC Cochlear Implant Program. In many cases, child and adult cochlear implant recipients may access additional therapy and support services from a range of service providers and we are happy for you to continue to do whatever works best for you. Ultimately we want to ensure that all children and adults with hearing loss achieve the best possible outcomes and we will support you ...
