Founded over 135 years ago, Schubert Club is one of the nation’s most vibrant music organizations, enriching Minnesota with dynamic concerts, music education programs and museum exhibits. Schubert Club remains as relevant, respected, and resilient today as it has throughout its history. Schubert Club presented its first public recital in 1893. Since then the International Artist Series has included virtually all of the world’s great recitalists, Jascha Heifetz, Arthur Rubinstein, Cecilia Bartoli, Isaac Stern, Beverly Sills, Yo-Yo Ma and Renée Fleming among them. In 2014, Schubert Club introduced Schubert Club Mix, its convention-breaking performance series in non-traditional venues. Schubert Club also presents Music in the Park Series (chamber music concerts in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood), free weekly lunchtime Courtroom Concertsin downtown St. Paul, chamber ensemble Accordo in Minneapolis venues, and the Hill House Chamber Players at the historic James J. Hill House. Not only a concert presenter, Schubert Club has engaged in music education programs since 1911. Schubert Club currently reaches two thousand youth annually through varied activities such as family concerts, teacher and student workshops, free music lessons in neighborhood locations, and scholarships that allow young students to pursue their music studies more intensively. In addition, the Schubert Club Museum, located in downtown Saint Paul’s historic Landmark Center, holds a world-class collection of historic keyboards, original letters and manuscripts of famous composers, and musical instruments from around the world. These are displayed and available for free public viewing, enhanced with interpretive information and frequent tours and special programs. Schubert Club maintains a commitment to affordable ticket prices for all concert presentations, as well as cost-free education programs and museum entrance, thanks to endowment gifts and annual donations. Schubert Club is one of four founding members of the Arts Partnership, programming a vibrant future for the performing arts in downtown St. Paul together with the Ordway, Minnesota Opera and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.
