SchoolSmartKC Information

SchoolSmartKC is Kansas City’s partner in public education. Founded in 2017, we work across district and charter schools to strengthen learning from early childhood through career readiness. We center community networks, connect funders to proven work, and stay close to implementation so investments lead to real results for students and schools. To date, more than $40 million has been invested in Kansas City's Public Education System (both charter and KCPS) through this shared approach. Our focus is student proficiency and growth, year-over-year, with strong emphasis on literacy, early learning, and systems that help schools improve over time. We use data to guide decisions, listen to and learn from families and educators, and build solutions with the people closest to students. Our work is grounded in a simple belief.
