I would like to introduce you to SchoolMed. Our company specializes in an innovative program organizing the service of pre-packaged medications and medication management for residential schools throughout the United States. As a camp nurse in the summer of 2003, I was astounded to discover that over one-third of the campers were on multiple medications throughout the day. Most of my time was spent organizing and administering medication. I started CampMeds, Inc. to provide camps the safest, most efficient and convenient way to dispense medication. It was only a matter of time until we realized that boarding schools had the same medication requirements as camps. So in 2005, we became the first company to bring our compliance medication packaging program to boarding schools across the country. Pre-packaging student™s medicine throughout the school year minimizes potential medication errors and ensures that every student gets the correct medication and dosage at the right time on the right day. Small, portable packaging allows flexibility and convenience for students on the go. Just as importantly, our program significantly reduces the time nurses spend preparing and administering medications, allowing the school nurse or other healthcare personnel to devote more attention to student™s other medical needs. Medications that are in pill form are individually packaged, sealed and sorted according to date and time of administration. Each perforated packet holds all of the medicine a student requires for that day and time. The packets are clearly labeled with the student™s name, medication dosage, date and time to be administered. Medications are dispensed and packaged in 30-day increments and sent directly to the school every month, along with a completed Medical Administration Record (MAR) for each student, and copies of original prescriptions.
