Scan &Go is a new method for the topographical survey of the area using laser scanner combined with GPS receivers. The system installed on vehicle mode “Measure and Go” (Patent registered) is designed to obtain a three dimensional definition centimeter of individual scans into a single reference system. This methodology born from the need to make more productive the use of new systems in the field of earth laser scanner traditional survey, to motivate the transition from survey precise method to that of three dimensional virtual reality allowing daily use even in classical topography. Developments in technology applied to measuring instruments and processing of measured data have led to significant changes and improvements in the Topography: motorized and robotics total stations, laser rangefinders able to measure great distances without the use of reflecting prisms, GPS receivers can measure great distances with millimeter accuracy, etc. All of these technologies, however, still bind the relief topographic in the mere measure of entity "punctual" materialized on the ground, forcing the topography of a huge and difficult work of relief point-to-point to represent the object of interest. The advent and development of instrumentation Laser Scanner using laser sensors that can measure thousands of points per second, is a turning point for the classic topography. This new class of instruments is able to release the survey of topographical detail by the individual measured point offering the possibility to obtain in few minutes a virtual reality linked to a classic three-dimensional reference system. From the above considerations, born the idea to create a Topographical survey system that allows geo referencing point clouds acquired by optimizing work time.
