We educate the public via our website https://rabbit.org and also via social media channels. We support and educate the rabbit rescue community by hosting a free a Slack workspace, EVERYBUNNY, to create and foster community and connection within the larger rabbit rescue world.
Our free Rabbit Image Library project is dedicated to creating and sourcing free, high-quality images of rabbits in humane and caring environments.
Our Rabbit Education Library project is dedicated to creating and sourcing free, high-quality rabbit education materials of rabbits that can be reused (and in some cases rebranded) for rabbit education.
Since the Middle Ages, a red door has been the symbol of a safe haven. This is what Red Door Animal Shelter provides for the animals in its care. Red Door's mission is to promote respect for all animals through education, shelter, rehabilitation, and adoption. We provide a no-kill, cageless environment for animals in our care and provide permanent, loving residence for those few animals who don't find their forever homes. We are one of only five no-kill, multi-species shelters in the country that admits rabbits as well as cats and dogs, spays/neuters them and places them up for adoption. We also regularly help rescue domestic chickens and ducks.
Every year, Red Door rescues and finds homes for hundreds of abused and abandoned animals. Red Door is a 501(c)(3) organization. We receive no federal, state, county or city money. We are funded by private donations and grants from private foundations.
Red Door houses cats, rabbits, and our occasional chicken & duck friends on-site at the shelter. All dogs are kept in foster homes off-site.
Red Door is considered the premiere rabbit rescue facility in the Chicago area.
Bunny Buddies Inc 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of domestic rabbits and enriching the bond between rabbits and their human caregivers.
Through a network of animal shelters, veterinarians, foster families, and volunteers, Bunny Buddies works to save domestic rabbits from abandonment and euthanasia, provide them with necessary veterinary care, spay/neuter, and foster homes until permanent adoptive homes can be found. We also educate the public and shelter volunteers and staff about proper care and endeavor to mitigate the widespread misconceptions and misinformation about these wonderful creatures. We are currently raising funds to open Houston’s first rabbit-only shelter.
