The South African Supplier Diversity Council (SASDC) is a member-directed, not-for-profit organisation. The SASDC is the leading corporate council in South Africa dedicated to promoting sustainable supplier diversity value-add, through targeted procurement and black supplier development. The Council enables members to practice supplier diversity as a strategic business objective, by - establishing and maintaining a database of certified bona fide black suppliers; - sharing knowledge, experience and best practice in supplier diversity; - supporting member commitments in growing procurement and development opportunities for black-owned suppliers. The SASDC is the first corporate-led organisation of its kind in South Africa and is linked as an affiliate of the Global Link Partnership Network to similar organisations in the USA, Canada, UK, China and Australia. This global network is comprised of the Supply Nation (formerly the Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council), Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC), Minority Supplier Development China, Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK) and the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) in the USA. Members are like-minded private sector corporations, state-owned enterprises and universities that are committed to supplier diversity. The SASDC is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), under a Strategic Partnership Agreement with the DTI.
