RISK ANALYSIS We provide strategic intelligence on the local dynamics that may impact investments and client operations, including geopolitical pressures, shifting government policy or regulatory changes, community relations and exposure to organised criminal activity. We help clients navigate the risk, mapping power structures or influential relationships, monitoring crime group dynamics and other destabilising factors, to assess the potential impact on clients while gathering information critical for risk mitigation. DUE DILIGENCE This is a key element of the pre-transaction process, complementing our client’s financial and legal due diligence. Our aim is to identify and mitigate risk in potential commercial relationships or investments, allowing clients to proceed with confidence. We assess counterparty reputation, integrity and track record ahead of investments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, senior appointments and other critical relationships. The work may entail gathering intelligence around potential obstacles to deal completion or undertaking market reviews and competitor analysis. In certain cases we screen further, tracing the wealth origins of high-net-worth individuals and families, mapping political and influence networks and gauging exposure to sanctions, the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery Act. ETHICS AND DISPUTES INVESTIGATIONS We gather evidence in support of internal investigations, commercial disputes and allegations of unethical corporate conduct, working in collaboration with internal counsel or independently. Engagements may call for the mapping of assets and corporate structures, discreetly identifying and interviewing witnesses, analysing data with open-source forensic tools, or the straightforward gathering of public records and open-source research.
